Elowen Trezise
Soft plein-air pastel coast in hazy Cornish light
Elowen Trezise paints en plein air along the north coast and the Hayle and Camel estuaries, often at the turn of the tide. She trained in painting at Plymouth and settled near St Ives, working fast in soft pastel to catch a passing light before it changes.
Elowen Trezise works in soft pastel, loose and immediate, chasing the hazy luminous light of the Cornish coast. Wide low-tide estuaries, marram-grass dunes, far blue headlands and big soft skies dissolve into chalky bloom and blended horizons. Her work is serene, airy and fresh — atmosphere over detail.
